Hokari
Overview
Hokari is a feudal planet of the Sorestian Empire and belongs to the same solar system as Kageri, occupying the fourth orbital position. It is small, poor, and devoid of mineral wealth or strategic value, a fact that has left it for centuries outside the main focus of imperial attention.
The planet maintains an almost medieval social and technological state, with structures made of stone, wood, and earth, castles built on low hills, and villages spread across the plains. Imperial law has effectively been forgotten, and authority survives only as custom, fear, and the personal will of local rulers.
The presence of the Sorestian Empire is largely limited to the remote island of Konama, favored by climate and terrain. There, villages and small towns survive through agriculture, livestock herding, and a modest fishing fleet. Konama serves as the seat of the imperial governor, a low prestige appointment that no noble of Sorestia seeks.
The governor resides in an ancient castle, renovated with modern comforts that appear almost magical to the people of Hokari. A small number of imperial ships are permanently stationed outside its walls, creating a stark contrast with the rest of the planet. The governor rarely visits the feudal lords of the continents, as there is little administrative or political reason to do so.
The peasants of Hokari live bound to the land and subject to the han to which they belong. Their lives are spent almost entirely within the borders of their local domain, leaving only in rare cases, usually for festivals held in neighboring han.
Hokari stands as a typical example of a planet nominally controlled by the empire, yet largely left to its own slow evolution, governed by forgotten feudal structures and minimal imperial intervention.
