Kether

Overview

Kether known to the priests of the Order of the One as Sanctis-42 is a world under OTO domination though not yet fully absorbed into its imperial order. Its inhabitants the Ketheri are a people deeply bound to their land and their communities living for centuries in a system of social equality and mutual aid.

Society and Culture

The Ketheri have known no kings or feudal lords in their recent age. Old powers survive only in folktales and in the ruins of castles slowly swallowed by vegetation. Their communities are governed by popular assemblies. Decisions are made collectively in open squares and justice is delivered through public ceremonies in which the entire community participates as witness. Kether has no city-states or authority machines only networks of settlements living to the rhythm of seasons and soil.
Its economy is agrarian and pre-industrial. Settlements maintain looms smithies and pottery workshops along with communal ovens and markets. Trade moves on animal-drawn carts along dirt paths linking distant regions. Their festivals follow harvest cycles the turn of seasons and the memory of ancestors.

OTO Arrival and Domination

When the OTO arrived on Kether it found a peaceful yet vulnerable world. The Explorers had already mapped the planet and soon missionary and military detachments followed. The OTO imposed its order through persuasion and fear. Where discipline could be cultivated priests were sent. Where resistance held military units arrived.
Priests built Sanct temples in the communities and introduced public rites and doctrines of justice and solidarity which felt familiar to the Ketheri. Gradually locals were allowed to enter the priesthood creating new generations of clerics who were no longer outsiders.

Resistance and Hidden Faiths

Despite the rise of the new creed the ancient worship of the Heptad did not vanish. Behind closed doors and within crumbling sanctuaries the Ketheri continued to honor Miravel Lythara and the other deities of their old religion. Small figurines are kept hidden at home and offerings are left in secret on moonless nights. Their quiet faith remains stubbornly alive.

Present State

Full integration of Kether into the OTO has not yet been achieved. Military forces have established outposts across the four continents and control passes and trade routes. The inhabitants see daily the technological superiority of the outsiders: screens showing other worlds weapons that cast fire and vehicles gliding without wheels.
For the OTO Kether is a proving ground of faith and endurance. For its people it is a world learning to walk between two paths between the earth and the light of the One.
