Mardek Thalon
Overview
Mardek Thalon is a retired general of the Order of the One, known for his honor, composure and integrity. He belongs to the generation of officers who viewed discipline and duty as sacred obligations rather than instruments of power. Despite his age he maintains sharp intellect and strategic clarity which earn him respect even among younger officers.
Role
After the attack on the planet Kether, Thalon was appointed by the Council of the Veil as an independent investigator to uncover the truth behind the event. His mission was to determine whether the accusations against the Liberal Alliance were justified and to present irrefutable evidence. During the investigation he discovered traces of a conspiracy connected to the Central Stellar Bank and networks of coercion extending through the major powers.
Personality
Serious, courteous and soft spoken, Thalon embodies the ideal of the warrior sage. He is driven by deep faith yet carries a cautious suspicion toward authority. The wounds of his past made him prudent and reserved without extinguishing his humanity. The memory of his wife Eira remains his only personal weakness, a sorrow he has never overcome.
Investigation Team
In the investigation of the attack on Kether, Thalon was accompanied by a small but elite team of soldiers chosen for their loyalty and skill. Together they examined the fortress on Kether and other locations and gathered evidence on those behind the assault.
His team consisted of the following:
- Ragnir Vorskald – centor, heavy and calm, famed as an unbeatable warrior. A soldier of the old school who prefers action over words.
- Edrak Holmvar – centor, young yet exceptionally sharp minded. Known for the speed of his thinking and his insight in critical moments.
- Skeld Arvengard – decan, trusted and deeply loyal to Thalon. Silent, determined and reputed never to abandon a mission.
