Markan Venar
Overview
Markan Venar is an active centor in the army of Coritha. He comes from the Morven line, one of the non aristocratic houses of Coritha. A career soldier, he has fought in the Coritha Lastor war and in the large conflict between the Liberal Alliance of Planets and the Syndarion Union of Nations.
Personal Tragedy
During the Coritha Lastor war a Lastorian bombardment on Kehrea killed his sister Orina, his daughter and his younger son. His wife Ceryn was left with a permanent disability in one leg. At the same time the husband of his sister was killed in combat, leaving their son Eryan orphaned. From that day Markan carried an unquenchable hatred for Lastor.
Personality and Role
Markan is the archetype of the soldier of honor and courage. He executes orders without question. His loyalty to Coritha and to the Council of Clans is absolute. His life revolves around service, discipline and duty.
Wars and Service
In the war between the LAP and the SUN he was among the commanders who took part in the purges of the Tettari. There he met veterans such as Lako Serrad and other officers from Lastor, yet he continues to regard them as enemies.
Symbolism
Markan represents the soldier bound by loyalty and marked by tragedy. He embodies both the honor of service and the destructive cycle of vengeance that fuels hostility between nations.
Markan Venar Team
Markan Venar commands a small but trusted force assembled specifically for the covert mission into Lastor and the Great Canyon. The unit combines loyal soldiers with convicted men whose abilities outweigh their previous crimes.
- Leron Kael Genor – a young but seasoned decan from the Genor line. He fought in the war against the Syndarion Union and carries in his eyes the permanent shadow of battlefield atrocities.
- Rell Trassil – a soldier of Coritha from an obscure line. Short but strongly built, with a facial scar from a past covert mission. He speaks rarely and only when he has something essential to say.
- Vess Menar – a tracker and scout of exceptional skill, born outside the noble lines. Known for his easy smile, though his eyes remain unreadable.
- Drevin Kar – a centor and old friend of Markan Venar, now serving as a convict forced into the mission.
- Kes Ardan – a decan in Markan Venar’s unit and also a convict, assigned to the mission under strict orders.
- Jassan Relin – a physician with a strong humanitarian character who was nonetheless dragged into the team through threats issued by Markan Venar.
- Thalen Kruss – a disturbed soldier and heavy weapons specialist. Known for his violent nature and the pleasure he takes in killing, he serves under tight supervision as part of the mission.
The team reflects Markan Venar’s pragmatic approach, a blend of trusted comrades and dangerous men bound to his will, all united by the necessity of the mission.
